Anne DREWETT
- Born: 1834, Cumnor, Berkshire

- Marriage: Frederick GREEN on 17 May 1853 in Cumnor, Berkshire 1
- Died: Cir Sep 1877, Oxford, Oxfordshire aged about 43 4
Noted events in her life were:
• Residence, 7 Jun 1841, Cumnor, Berkshire. 5 Age 6 Others Present: Isaac Drewett (Father), Nanny Drewett (Mother) 35, James Drewett 18, Mary Drewett 15, Elizabeth Drewett 10, Ann Drewett 6, Sinneta Lambourne 20
The 1841 entry for the DRUIT household is particularly fascinating because with them is living one Sinetta LAMBURN. (More usually spelled LAMBOURNE).
Now there's a name to conjure with! You will find quite a bit about her on the web. For starters, she was the daughter of James "Gypsy Jim" LAMBOURNE who named Summertown, and his wife Sinetta SMITH. But there is more:
In 1839 she married the Revd. Charles William Frederick CAVENDISH-BENTICK. In 1850 she died. In 1859 her husband re-married to Caroline Louise BURNABY. In 1862 they had a daughter Nina Cecilia CAVENDISH-BENTICK. In 1881 she married Claude George BOWES-LYON. In 1900 they had a daughter Elizabeth Angela Marguerite BOWES-LYON. In 1923 she married George Albert WINDSOR. In 1926 they had a daughter Elizabeth, who currently occupies a rather nice house at the end of the Mall, in London . . . .
Why was Sinetta living with Isaac and Nanny DRUIT in 1841? Well Nanny DRUIT was née LAMBOURNE and was Gypsy Jim's sister.
There is of course the intriguing question which I have seen raised before but never satisfactorily answered: If Sinetta was married to Cavendish Bentick in 1839, how come she is with Isaac DREWITT and still calling herself Sinetta LAMBURN in 1841?
Probably the best account of all this LAMBOURNE saga is on the Cumnor web site at:
